Le ragazze e i ragazzi di Facciavista 2024 To be continued, La luce è un buio chiaro?, enhanced Challenge, EdiXion, Milan.
A social inclusion project. Is Light a Clear Darkness? is a journey through images created by girls and boys with autism spectrum disorder. A journey inspired by the stained glass windows of the Duomo in Monza, created by Marco Carnà in 2006. The book, whose title takes up a phrase by the artist, explores the challenges and hopes of these young people from a unique perspective, that of their introspective journey. The cover reproduces a detail of the stained glass windows, a Gospel scene where a devil appears, symbol of the difficulties we encounter in life’s journey. Difficulties that must not prevent us from continuing to hope and fight. A book in progress, because it is not the destination of the journey that attracts us, but the road to travel together.
Marco Carnà’s two stained glass windows. The two stained glass windows, inserted in triple-arched windows, are a masterpiece that combines tradition and modernity, thanks to the use of symbolisms and intense colours, in line with the tradition of Gothic stained glass as painting of light. The exhibition, set up inside the Duomo, presents four preparatory sketches by the artist that testify to his creative process. At the end of the exhibition the sketches will flow into the collections of the Museum and Treasury of the Duomo in Monza where they will be preserved as a precious trace of the cathedral’s history.
Inclusion and talent: the protagonists are the young people of Facciavista. Facciavista is an association born with the objective of identifying and supporting the particular artistic abilities of autistic girls and boys. The young people of the association will create drawings and texts to tell the story of Carnà’s works and they will be the ones to give voice to the stained glass windows and sketches, demonstrating how art can be an instrument of participation and dialogue.
